Many times you bring lots of vegetables and fruits from the market, but they get spoiled before you can cook them. There are some ways in which you can save them from getting spoiled.

When you buy fruits and vegetables and bring them home, many times you keep them directly in the fridge because they are in large quantity. Due to not being used quickly, they start getting spoiled, due to which you have to throw them away. But if you keep them properly in the fridge, they will not get spoiled and will also remain fresh. To prevent germs from developing in food items and to keep them fresh for a long time, they should be kept in the fridge. But you have to differentiate which food items should be kept in the fridge or outside. Here we will tell you some such ways, by which you can keep your food items safe and fresh.

Preserve the Meat

To protect meat from bacteria, you should keep it covered. Store it in clean sealed containers on the bottom shelf of the refrigerator, so that it does not touch other food. If you have any leftover meat after cooking it, put it in the refrigerator as soon as possible after cooling it. This will prevent it from spoiling and you will be able to consume it later.

Keep flour and oil outside

Often a type of beetle starts appearing in flour, which can spoil your flour. When you bring pasta, corn flour to your house, take them out of the packet and keep them in an air tight container. By doing this, your flour and other food items like pasta will remain safe. Both air and temperature are responsible for food spoilage. Rancid oil may taste good, but it starts smelling bad. It may be convenient to keep oil near the gas, but it is not right. If you close its can properly and keep it in a separate place in the kitchen, then it can remain good for a longer period.

Other Moist Foods

Many vegetables need to be kept in the fridge, such as tomatoes, cabbage, green vegetables etc. You can keep them at the bottom of the fridge to keep them fresh. Make sure you wash all the vegetables thoroughly, and then keep them outside for a while to dry the water. After this you can keep them in the fridge. If you keep them in the fridge immediately after washing, they start rotting and get spoiled very quickly.

Mushrooms and eggs

When you buy eggs, you should also bring the container with you. This prevents the eggs from spoiling quickly, whereas if you keep them in the egg storage provided in your fridge, they will break quickly. You should keep them in their container only, they can stay fresh for a long time. On the other hand, if mushrooms are kept in the fridge after washing, they start getting fungus very soon and are not edible. The mushrooms should be kept in the fridge as they are bought, because they are already packed, so fungus does not grow in them. The packaging of mushrooms should be opened before cooking them and their colour starts to deteriorate if kept outside for a long time.

Do not store dry fruits for a long time

You might think that many packets of walnuts or cashews and almonds can be kept in the house forever. They contain hot substances, if they are kept for a long time, the oil present in the nuts starts becoming rancid. If you have bought a lot of nuts, then they cannot be kept in an airtight container for more than 3 months. You can keep packed nuts in the freezer for 6 months.
